Ranking ULEB

FAQ

  • How does the league ranking in the right work?
Following the Eurocup bylaws, the league ranking is calculated by adding the results of the worst performing team from each league. This points indicate the lowest possible position that any club from that country or league can occupy in the draw of the Eurocup. This ranking is not applied in the Euroleague.

I suppose that this ranking can not be applied for countries with one only team participating in the previous seasons (e.g. Czech Republic, Latvia or Poland indeed).

  1. How do the country points on the left calculated?

  2. Hi. The two left columns are current position and position after the end of the previous season.

  3. Oops, I meant the columns on the right.
If I got this right, this is the minimum points for a team from each country. It is then used for the minimum points for seeding for next year.
    Am I right?

  4. Yes, you are. But this seeding is only used in Eurocup, not in Euroleague.

    1. Hi. The right column is the minimum points that a team would have in Eurocup for the draw. Copying from the Eurocup bylaws:

"The results of the worst performing team from each country/League will be added together every year to create a position for that country/League in the Club Ranking. This is the lowest possible position that any club from that country/League can occupy in the draw."

    1. Hi, Bogdan. Looking to bylaws:

      1) the tie will be resolved by the total number of wins during the three year period.
      2) Should a tie persist, the final standings in the Euroleague and if necessary Eurocup from the previous season will be used to break the tie.
      3) the final standings in the National Championship from the previous season (after the playoffs) will be used to break the tie.
      4) a draw will beused to break the tie, with the Company determining the method for the draw.
